Women in Timber Ghana Association (WiTG) is a national non-profit association established in 2022 to promote the participation, empowerment and advancement of women in Ghana's timber and forestry sector.
WiTG provides a platform for women to access knowledge, networks, skills, business opportunities and partnerships while contributing to sustainable forest management and the development of the timber industry.
To become a vibrant group championing women's empowerment in the timber sector.
To serve as an active platform for empowering women in the timber industry to realize the economic and social viability of their businesses.
Women in Timber Ghana Association (WiTG) was established in 2022 as a women-led professional association focused on increasing women's participation, visibility and opportunities in Ghana's timber and forestry sector.
The association emerged from the need to strengthen the participation of women across the timber value chain, particularly through capacity building, networking, entrepreneurship, advocacy, access to opportunities and sustainable forest management.
WiTG brings together women working across different areas of the forestry and timber sector and provides a platform for them to connect, learn, grow and contribute meaningfully to the development of the sector.
The Association seeks to address challenges affecting women in the sector, including limited access to finance and markets, skills gaps, limited representation in decision-making and unequal access to opportunities.
Through partnerships, training, enterprise development, forest restoration and advocacy, WiTG continues to create opportunities for women while promoting sustainable management and use of Ghana's forest resources.
Through community actions and donor support, we have driven tangible outcomes across Ghana's forest ecosystems.
